“With Jason you always get the real deal. He gravitates towards roots music and that’s reflected in the songs he writes and plays; foot-stomping grooves and cerebral tunes turned social commentary fill his setlist and contribute to the authentic feel that Jason is often associated with.” – Anne Broussard
I am a lifelong Louisiana resident; born and raised in Vermilion Parish, before moving north to Lafayette. While I love to find myself in a variety of musical situations, I first and foremost consider myself to be a songwriter.
Over the past 25 years I have written, recorded, and performed original compositions as a solo artist and band leader. I have released 6 albums; publishing more than 50 songs. I have engineered and mixed albums for bands and solo artists. I have served as a sit-in guitarist, fiddler, harmonica player, and vocalist for dozens of South Louisiana’s Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco bands. During this time, though I haven’t kept count, I estimate that I have performed well over 1,000 shows in and around South Louisiana.
Additionally, I regularly perform as a multi-instrumentalist in a number of musical projects; most recently in support of South Louisiana musical icons Major Handy and Warren Storm. Among others, I have also performed and/or recorded with The Bluerunners, Beau Soleil, Dax Riggs, and Al Berard. I consider myself to be a student of my experiences and take every opportunity that I can to deepen my understanding of the magic of Music. I have been blessed to learn from and perform with a number of my musical heroes.
In this way, music has served as my connection to my community, my teacher, and the basis of many of my relationships, personal and professional. I have been blessed with more wonderful musical experiences than I can count, and the incredible atmosphere and musicians of South Louisiana have kept me from needing to travel much for inspiration.
That said, I am at a point in my life and career where I feel that I have something that is meant to be shared. I look forward to visiting you and bringing a little bit of the best parts of South Louisiana along with me.
